Janko Jesenský. Poet, novelist, democrat.

This joint publication by two renowned literary scholars presents the results of their long-standing interest in the literary work of Janek Jesenský. In their individual studies and interpretations, they explore various aspects of his poetry and prose, whilst also offering unconventional interpretations.

A selection of his letters and a clear chronology of his life and work will also help the reader to form a picture of Jesenský’s personality. The book is accompanied by unique, hitherto largely unknown photographs from the estate of Jan Jesenský, which forms part of the collection of the Bratislava City Museum.

The publication marks the 150th anniversary of Janko Jesenský’s birth as a tribute to this exceptional figure in Slovak culture.
