At the Bratislava City Museum (MMB), we believe that a museum should be a vibrant space for dialogue, education, and community building. We view our work at the museum as a public service. We preserve cultural heritage, explore Bratislava’s past and present, and present topics that help people better understand the city.

Since 1868, we have been documenting the city’s history, managing more than 120,000 collection items, and caring for eight historic sites of varying character and significance. These include the Old Town Hall, St. Michael’s Tower, Devín Castle, and the Ancient Gerulata, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We build on a tradition spanning more than 150 years as a modern and dynamically evolving museum. We combine scholarly research, the protection, and preservation of cultural heritage with exhibitions, education, new technologies, and the needs of the public. We are seeking new ways to share the stories of Bratislava, improve visitor services, and create an open and inclusive museum for the entire city.
