Ovidius Faust’s Estate collection
This is a valuable, self-contained and internally structured collection, situated somewhere between a museum collection and an archival estate, spanning the years 1850–1972. The collection’s value lies in its comprehensiveness and it provides significant insight into the history of the Bratislava City Museum itself.
What does the collection document?
- The life and work of a prominent figure: the life and career of Ovidius Faust (1896–1972), a prominent figure in the cultural life of interwar Bratislava and, from 1923 to 1945, a leading figure at the Bratislava City Museum.
- The city’s cultural life: individual collections and sets document various aspects of cultural life in Bratislava, particularly in the first half of the 20th century.
