Bc. David Plachý

David Plachý has worked at the museum since 2025 as Head of the Conservation Department. His work focuses primarily on the protection of collection objects and on developing strategies for their treatment, storage and handling. He combines specialist knowledge of conservation with practical experience of a wide range of materials and cultural heritage objects.

He is responsible for the professional leadership of the conservation team, the planning and coordination of conservation treatments, and the development of procedures and standards for the care of the museum’s collections. Preventive conservation is also an important part of his work, including monitoring the condition of collections and establishing conditions that minimise the risk of damage.

His work is based on respect for museum objects, their materials, histories and the stories they preserve. He sees conservation not only as a technical discipline, but above all as a responsibility towards cultural heritage. Each object requires an individual approach, a thorough understanding of its material composition, and careful consideration of what action is necessary and what should be left untouched.

He also has many years of experience in the restoration of altar architecture across Slovakia and contributed to the project Main Altar in the Evangelical Church in Roštár, which received the Fénix – Cultural Monument of the Year 2016 award.

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
