PhDr. Daniel Hupko PhD.
He studied History and Slovak Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (2008) and completed his doctoral studies at the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava (2015).
From 2007 to 2016, he worked as a curator at the Slovak National Museum – Červený Kameň Museum in Častá, where he was responsible for the porcelain, glass, ceramics and textile collections. He has worked at the Bratislava City Museum since 2016 and currently serves as Head of the Collections Care and Management Division as well as one of the museum’s Deputy Directors. As a curator, he specialises in the professional research and documentation of the museum’s literary collections.
His research covers a broad range of topics. He studies the mentality and lifestyle of the nobility in present-day Slovakia, with a particular focus on the Červený Kameň line of the senior branch of the Pálffy family in the second half of the 19th and first half of the 20th century. His research also explores the cultural history of Bratislava during the interwar period and the history of ceramic production in Slovakia from the 18th to the 20th century.
From 2017 to 2025, he was the academic editor of the annual journal Bratislava. Zborník Múzea mesta Bratislavy and edited six of its volumes, covering the years 2017–2021 and 2023.
He is a member of the editorial boards of Múzeum (since 2015), Archívny almanach (since 2020) and Acta Musei Nationalis Pragae – Historia (since 2021). He is also a member of the Scientific Council for Historical Sciences at the Slovak National Museum – Historical Museum (since 2018) and the Museum Council of the Museum of Education and Pedagogy (since 2022).
In 2020, he curated the exhibition Na okraji záujmu. Z literárnych zbierok MMB (On the Margins of Interest: From the Literary Collections of the Bratislava City Museum). In 2023, he co-curated Príbeh holíčskej manufaktúry (The Story of the Holíč Manufactory) with Andrea Milanová at the Slovak National Museum – Historical Museum in Bratislava. In 2024, he developed the concept for and co-curated the exhibition Hana with Jana Jablonická Zezulová and Monika Kapráliková.
