Experience a journey back to the days of the mighty Roman Empire right where a Roman military camp once stood! In Ancient Gerulata, we’re preparing activities for you inspired by the story of the gladius sword discovered in Rusovce.

At the workshop (starting at 10:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.), children will become researchers, learn about the work of archaeologists and conservators, and discover how iron and bone change over centuries spent underground. Afterward, they’ll mix paints from oxidized metal and charred bones to create their own “archaeological find”—a sword decorated with the same materials as the original. They can also take part in a scavenger hunt and collect stamps that will gradually reveal the sword’s appearance and its story. Successful treasure hunters will receive a sticker as a reward at the ticket office.
