Exhibition of Clocks
House at the Good Shepherd
Duration of tour: 40min

Precision, patience, masterful craftsmanship and the human stories behind it all. These qualities are embodied in clocks, objects we now tend to take for granted. The exhibition, featuring clocks from the late 17th to the 19th century, explores the development of clockmaking in Bratislava, the work of local masters and the ways clocks were used in the past.
You will discover a wide range of timepieces, from wall and standing clocks to portable sundials, hourglasses and tower clock mechanisms. The exhibition also includes rare cabinet clocks made for the urban middle classes, aristocratic watches and 19th-century picture clocks with musical mechanisms. As clockmaking had a long tradition in the city dating back to the 15th century, most of the exhibits come from the workshops of skilled Bratislava clockmakers.
