Exhibition of Viticulture

Grape-growing and wine-making have played an important role in the history of Bratislava. Did you know, for example, that one of the oldest and best-known sparkling wines in Central Europe – Hubert – actually originates from this very city? This intimate exhibition will take you through the history of viticulture, from vine cultivation and the grape harvest to grape processing, from ancient times right up to the 20th century.

You’ll learn how people used to work in the vineyards, how vineyard self-government was organised, and how the ethnic ancestors of today’s Slovaks prayed for success in growing vines and making wine.

The exhibition further explores the stories of prominent winemaking families, particularly the Huberts and the Palugyays, whose wines have won international awards.
