Family matters. An image of the life of Bratislava families

Have you ever explored a city’s history through powerful personal and family stories? This exhibition follows the lives of ten prominent burgher families and reveals how they helped shape Bratislava from the 19th century to the mid-20th century. Families such as the Scherzes, Albrechts, Huberts and Palugyays made a significant contribution to the city’s development in art, culture, business and public life. Each also had its own distinctive symbols and features that formed part of its identity.

Through authentic objects, photographs and personal documents, you can step into their studies, living rooms and salons. The exhibition not only brings the past to life, but also shows that many of the challenges and situations our predecessors faced are not so different from those we experience today.
