On Fermentation
Old Town Hall

Delve into the topic of fermentation, which ties in with the exhibition “Devín’s Unique Treasure” on display in the Old Town Hall. An introductory talk by archaeologist Jana Mellnerová Šuteková will guide you through 11 centuries during which fermentation was not confined to the kitchen—it was an integral part of social life and mysterious rituals.
After the lecture, the courtyard will come alive with the movement performance *Kvasný pohyb* (Fermentation in Motion), conceived by Viktória Revická—in this piece, the performers become yeast in a fermentation culture and undergo a natural biological process. The sounds, the inhuman movements of single-celled organisms, and the reference to the living essence of yeast captivate the audience’s attention, relax the body, and heighten our awareness of a world invisible to the naked eye.
Admission is free.
The event will take place in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall
The event is organized in partnership with Myslím – Cultural Center for the Deaf.
The event will be interpreted into Slovak Sign Language. Please ensure that people with hearing impairments have a clear view of the interpreter.
